Book Review ~ Crushing, by Bishop  T. D. Jakes

Chapter 8 ~ Power in the Blood

Power in the blood, is an outstanding chapter that explains the vital nature of the blood in our relationship with God. It spells out the core intent of God in utilizing the right blood at crucial points of man’s walk with Him, in order to build a healthy and sustainable relationship, and fulfill His ultimate purpose for man.

The importance of blood throughout scripture cannot be overestimated because, through it, we see that our portion with God is changed.

The reference story of Moses and his wife Zipporah in Exodus 4:24-26, explains the power in the blood and the intent of God in using the blood to redeem and restore man into His own purpose.

God is ardently and passionately obsessed with getting his family back together. And a relationship like that with the Almighty does not come without God bringing that person into covenant with Him. This is always done by the blood.

The blood acts as a covering to those who enter into covenant with God.

Few of many examples are:

  1. Genesis 3:21 – God takes the life of an innocent animal and uses its skin to cover Adam and Eve’s nakedness.
  2. Genesis 4:4-5 – Abel brought to the Lord an acceptable sacrifice that consisted of fat portions from the firstborn of his flock.
  3. Exodus 12:1-13 – Moses gives instruction about the Passover to the children of Israel to take a lamb without defect, eat it, and place its blood on the door-frames of each house.

Power in the blood | Jesus ReignsAll these, and many more are God’s signature pointing back to Christ. The powerful thing about the blood that God wants us to see is that, “Our transformation into wine requires that we be signed and sealed by blood.”

Jesus became our unrighteousness and illegitimacy so that we could become His righteousness and be accepted in the beloved by God. The blood of the firstborn, unblemished Son of God saved our lives!

The spilling of the eternal, blood~red wine of our Master was poured out like a drink offering on our behalf.

Our deliverance and restoration back to God is only possible by the blood, and the perfect Blood of Christ has been made available for us.

If anyone needs deliverance from anything, and full restoration back to the fulfillment of the purpose of God, “Na blood fit do am,” as it’s been said in the pidgin parlance.

Let’s not take for grant the power in the blood of Jesus, and it speaks better things than that of Abel.

In every area of our lives, may the blood of Jesus avail for us. Amen.
