All our needs – physical, financial, emotional, marital, educational, career, business, spiritual – are absolutely taken care of by the Shepherd Himself.
The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.
Psalm 23:1 (NLT)
A shepherd is simply defined as a person who tends herds, feeds, or guards herds of sheep. (Wikipedia)
Shepherding is such a huge responsibility that only gets taken up by people with outstanding personalities – to tend, feed and guard heard of sheep.
The character required for the job of a shepherd is entirely different from that of a farmer or a hunter. And the survival of the sheep is absolutely determined by the capacity of the shepherd.
As humans, the Psalmist referred to us as sheep, whose survival is determined by the capacity of the Lord – our Shepherd.
This is so comforting for all those who believe in the capacity of the Almighty Shepherd to take care of all our needs.
His capacity as the Ancient of days, the Mighty God in battle, the Jehovah Jireh, the Jehovah Rapha, the Jehovah Nissi, and the I AM that I AM!
The most elating part of this is that ALL the sheep need to do is to follow the direction and leading of the Shepherd.
The Shepherd knows where the right pasture is. He knows the most secured part of the field. He knows where the best of still water is. He is mostly battle-ready to fight any attack from the enemy, on behalf of the sheep.
As the sheep, we just need to be obedient, and follow His directions. To be obedient, we need to hear His voice. To hear His voice, we need to develop intimate relationship with Him.
This is possible when we give our lives to Him, and continually spend time in His presence, to understand His ways, and not just His acts.
He is an ever-ready Shepherd. He is most willing to lead us to a place of fulfillment and prosperity.
Keep enjoying the best of God!
